Republican Representative Eric Turner of Cicero has again filed a bill that would add a ban on same-sex marriage to the Indiana constitution. This year, the bill that’s been called HJR-6 has a new name. When it was first filed in 2011, it was the sixth House Joint Resolution filed. This year, it’s the third, meaning its official name is HJR-3.
Turner has also filed a companion bill to the proposed amendment. As Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Brandon Smith reports, the bill would ensure that domestic partnerships and same-sex couple benefits aren’t endangered.
