Muncie ARF flooded in storms

Muncie’s Animal Rescue Fund has sent more than one hundred animals to temporary homes today after the shelter flooded in last night’s storms.  ARF founder Terri Panszi says the low-lying Riggin Road facility took on about five feet of water.  Panszi says all the animals – including sixty cats, seventy dogs, and Chet the Pig – survived the flooding.  But because of the high water, AEP has cut the power to the building.  Panszi says the shelter will have some big things to replace once the water is gone.

The flood waters also destroyed the shelter’s supply of pet food and cleaning supplies.  Wasson Nursery has cleared out a barn to house some of the animals.  The rest are being housed by local volunteers.

Donations to ARF are collected at Wasson Nursery and other local businesses.
