The Delaware County Council has granted a tax abatement to an Indianapolis battery company with plans to open a southwest Muncie facility.  The one-year abatement for Worldwide Battery is worth about $21,000.  Senior Vice President John Carter tells The Star Press that it will buy the former Sovereign Tool building on Hoyt Avenue.  They will then hire up to 50 people to clean and recharge batteries for sale.  Carter says they are buying in Muncie because they’ve run out of room in their Indianapolis facility.
