Indiana’s unemployment rate inched up slightly for July… with a statewide rate of 10.2 percent.  That’s point-one percent above June’s unemployment rate.    In July, 319,000 Hoosiers were looking for jobs.  The private sector added 13,000 positions.  Citing the end of census work, the state reported government work eliminated 4,300 jobs.   In the IPR area, most counties hold unemployment rates between nine and 13 percent.  Fayette County still retains the highest unemployment in the state, at 14.1 percent.  Three other IPR counties are also included in the top ten counties in the state with the highest unemployment – Henry, Blackford, and Howard.   Hamilton County again has the lowest unemployment rate in the IPR area – at 7.1 percent.  The state of Indiana still retains the lowest rate of its bordering states, with the exception of Kentucky.
